Reuben Margolin is a Bay Area sculptor and visionary that was raised here in Berkeley and makes these amazing kinetic wave sculptures. Stumbled across this great documentary by MAKE of his making process: Love the fact that he mentions Urban Ore , another one of the many Berkeley treasures, three acres of recycled goods. Of interest to anyone that loves designing/inventing yet is conscious about waste.
