Á Deriva , translated Adrift for English speaking audiences, is a Brazilian film written and directed by Heitor Dhalia which addresses the epidemic of marital dysfunction that arguably arose from a libertine North American 70s mentality. The story follows a teenage girl undergoing her sexual awakening while learning that her parents' seemingly perfect marriage was built on a landfield of philanderous behavior and lies. The movie peeks at the confusion and psychological effects on the teenager's sexual development. The film is set against the gorgeous landscape of a 1980s Búzios , a resort town and a municipality of Rio de Janeiro. It has stunning cinematography and a great soundtrack.
