Futurefarmers

Rainwater Harvester/Greywater System Feedback Loop
Artists: Amy Franceschini and Michael Swaine

Futurefarmers is a collective that has been around the bay area since 1995. One of the founders also co-founded Free Soil, another interesting project. I love their motto: "cultivating consciousness" through design.

Apartment Hunting

I'm having such a hard time finding a big enough nice apt I can afford here in the east bay. Saw this one bedroom today on Piedmont Ave. that has potential, but no parking or laundromat. I think I'll keep looking!

Le Concert

Andrei Simoniovich Filipov was a renowned conductor of the Bolshoi orchestra until he got fired for helping Jewish musicians. Thirty years later, while reduced by government regime to a mere cleaning man at the Bolshoi, he stumbles upon a fax from the Ch√Ętelet Theater in Paris inviting the Bolshoi orchestra to play. Frustrated with not being able to pursue his passion (and other things), he decides to gather together his former musicians and impersonate the new Bolshoi orchestra in Paris. As a solo violin player to accompany his orchestra (and Gypsy musicians found last minute to fill-in) Andrei specifically requested Anne-Marie Jacquet, a young virtuoso. The rest I'll let you find out on your own.

Brilliant comedy directed by Radu Mihaileanu. The end is grand...

Art House: The Partisan

Went to check out the private Partisan Gallery, a contemporary art gallery operated by Chris Fallon in his beautiful Victorian house apartment in San Francisco’s Mission neighborhood.

He also runs a quarterly periodical by the same name out of his home too that covers art, photography, reviews, music, profiles, essays, fashion, interviews, and various forms of pop culture detritus. The publication follows disparate aesthetic models, being equal parts punk zine, fashion/gossip/art magazine, and literary journal; and his point of view embraces the notion that high and low brow can live side-by-side.

Here I'll share some pics of his preview showing and of his cool pad interior, decorated with vintage found pieces, including a pretty decent collection of old records.

You can find-out of his happenings and publishing at:
